The club was established in 1977 through the merger of the Morris Oxford MO and Wolseley 6/80 clubs. In 2017, it expanded further with the incorporation of the Morris Cowley & Oxford Club.
The original merger of the 6/80 and MO clubs was a practical decision, as all the Morris and Wolseley vehicles introduced at the 1948 Earls Court Motor Show shared a common design by Issigonis, which meant they had many interchangeable parts. This even included commercial vehicles like the J-Type van, which was based on the Oxford model. The 2017 incorporation of the Morris Cowley & Oxford Club followed the same logic: the vehicles in question were quite distinct from other Morris models, and the 6/80 & MO Club proved to be the best fit for the MCOC members when they sought a new home for their cars.
